We’ve seen dishonest, corrupt and downright stupid administrations in the USA but this is a unique and nasty blend of chaos, destruction, cruelty and bottomless greed.

Thank you. This is a tragic situation…😢

So, hard working, tax paying immigrants from South America are bad, but corporations from South America that lobby and even bribe U.S. politicians to allow them to rape pristine wilderness are good? Have I got that right?

We’re not being governed. We’re being looted.

Since the conservation area borders Canada, maybe lawyers in Canada could issue an injunction against any mining activities on the basis that it would certainly pollute Canadian waters, soil, affect residents on the border, impact the local economy adversely etc and threaten suit for punitive damages against the Trump administration and the mining companies.

Well, of course. Trump lost Minnesota three times. He wants to punish them and help his donor friend. This is Trump politics. Trump first.

Such an abuse of power and influence.

Keep calling your Senators! This isn't done yet! Great coverage as always PD! Keep up the amazing reporting.

If you want your hard-earned donation money put to good use, you can't go wrong with Earthjustice and The Center for Biological Diversity. Those organizations know how to litigate and win.

the GOP is all about hypocrisy and making money off our collective murder/suicide. MAGA is a death cult.

Man, such a good read. Informed logical comments also. It’s nice to know people care and are paying attention.

Was that Bargamin creek, when a ground hornet got you?

I am appalled! The mining proposal is faulty, there is now way to assure that the non-US business that will strip resources from the land will not also poison the waterways for future generations. Straight out of a William Kent Krueger novel!

When politicians gut protections for a place as irreplaceable as the Boundary Waters, they’re telling you your air, water, and future don’t matter. Using an “arcane legal maneuver” to help a foreign mining company is a straight-up betrayal of the public. Call your representatives to let them know they must quietly dismantle what belongs to all of us.

I figured the ICE controversy was smoke for something bigger.
